With over 20 years of combined experience, This private practice was born from a shared passion to create accessible, inclusive, and transformative mental health care. Now, as a group practice, we are committed to empowering individuals, couples, and families through compassionate, client-centered therapy that honors each person’s unique story.
At the heart of our practice is a systemic, client-centered approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of individuals, families, and communities. We honor each client’s lived experience, cultural background, and personal values—believing that healing is most effective when it aligns with who you are and where you come from.
WHY US?
At The Counselors Care, our mission is to empower people and businesses through strategic consulting. Here, we are designed to provide actionable insights that drive growth and efficiency.
Grounded in the values of equity we work to dismantle barriers to care and advocate for healing - in all communities. As The Counselors that Care, we support the growth of fellow professionals and organizations, offering guidance and tools to foster resilience, collaboration, and systemic change.
Our diverse team of experienced consultants brings a rich tapestry of knowledge from various industries, allowing us to offer comprehensive, innovative solutions in both clinical and organizational settings. We specialize in integrating faith-based perspectives and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), tailoring our support to meet the emotional, spiritual, and cognitive needs of each client.
Whether working with individuals, couples, families, or teams, we seek to foster growth, resilience, and lasting change by engaging the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—within their broader relational and social context.
As a spiritually grounded and systemically conscious counselor, I bring over a decade of diverse experience in mental health care, education, and organizational leadership to my current work in private practice. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a strong clinical focus on couples therapy and women’s issues. As a proud member of a minority-owned group practice, I approach therapy through a holistic, culturally-responsive, and community-centered lens.
My academic journey began with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Barry University, where I first explored the complex impact of community violence on adolescent mental health. I later decided to work on earning a doctorate with a dissertation focused on the intersection of data systems, youth development, and community voice among minorities in Miami. This research reflects my commitment to elevating underrepresented perspectives and promoting sustainable, youth-centered interventions.
Professionally, I’ve served in roles spanning as clinical director, quality assurance director, and professor—teaching and mentoring future clinicians at Barry University across multiple counseling and psychology courses. I have conducted extensive program audits, supported accreditation processes, and driven ethical and culturally attuned standards of care across various treatment facilities.
Beyond clinical spaces, I’ve worked as a consultant, community advocate, and founder of a nonprofit dedicated to advancing academic success for minority youth. My leadership has extended to board service with organizations, where I have championed inclusive and equity-driven mental health initiatives.
My work is deeply informed by the belief that healing is not just individual—it is collective, systemic, and spiritual. Whether working with couples, facilitating community collaboration, or designing trauma-informed programming, I strive to center humanity, dignity, and empowerment in everything I do.
With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly those navigating the challenges of complex trauma, anxiety, ADHD in adulthood, and family dysfunction. My approach is rooted in compassion, cultural humility, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience.
I specialize in helping clients understand how life’s systemic stressors—relationships, responsibilities, identity, and environment—impact their mental and emotional wellbeing. Using a holistic and skills-based approach, I guide individuals in developing practical tools to manage life’s complexities, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward lasting change.
As part of a minority-owned practice, I’m committed to creating inclusive, affirming spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.
Supporting children living with Autism by incorporating play therapy concepts:
As the Director of Community Partnerships and a dedicated Registered Mental Health Intern, I specialize in building strategic alliances that strengthen access to mental health services across our community. With a passion for outreach and collaboration, I serve as a liaison between our organization and a diverse network of partners, including local churches, higher education departments, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), and a wide array of community-based agencies. My mission is to foster meaningful connections that support holistic, culturally competent care for individuals and families.
Over the past five years, I have gained extensive clinical experience across a broad spectrum of mental health settings. My work includes conducting comprehensive intakes, providing individual and group therapy, and helping support clients and families through inpatient detox and substance use recovery programs.
I have also developed a strong passion for working with children, particularly those living with autism. I use play therapy techniques and developmentally appropriate interventions to engage young clients in a safe, supportive environment. My work focuses on emotional regulation, social skills development, and helping families navigate the complexities of neurodiversity.
With a heart for service and a strategic eye for collaboration, I am committed to advancing mental health equity and creating pathways for community healing and resilience.
